AVP, Fixed Income & Interest Rate Derivatives

Our client, a major global investment bank is currently looking for

Position reports to Head

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

Effective supervision & management of Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Structured Products Section
Foster co-operation and communication with Front Office, Middle Office, Head Office, customers and external authorities.
Strengthening of back office processes, workflow and control towards achieving operational excellence
Execute Permanent Supervision to ensure that the daily operations are in line with operational procedures and ensure reconciliation at month end basis of all treasury sub systems (including spreadsheets) to General Ledger
Ensuring policies, procedures, best practices, mission and objectives set by OPER/FICC management are adhered to on daily discharge of duties
Successful implementation of regional projects
Procedural documentation / revision and streamlining of workflow and processes

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Entities: Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei & Asia Hong Kong

Duties: (Daily)

Operational duties in the supervision & management of Fixed Income, derivatives & Structured Product Section to ensure proper functioning. Duties include checking and releasing of payment, checking & signing of trade confirmations etc.

Fixed Income

Effectively manage the settlement process of Primary Market issues for both syndicate and private placement
Effectively manage the settlement process of Secondary Market issues such as Fixed and Floating Rate Bonds & Notes in HKCMU.
Month end revaluation of open positions and passing the entries e.g. p/l and interest accruals.
Manage the custodian services provided to clients. Monitoring coupon proceeds and ensure they are transferred to clients’ accounts accurately and promptly.

Derivatives

Effectively manage the settlement process of derivatives products such as Financial Futures, Forward Rate Agreement, Interest Rate Swap, Cross Currency Interest Rate Swap, Overnight Index Swap, etc
Trade date: commitment entries for derivatives
Maturity date: reversal of commitment entries and passing of settlement entries e.g. nostro and profit/loss accounts.
Month end: revaluation of open positions and passing the entries e.g. p/l and interest accruals

Structured Products

Supervision of accounting entries relating to Fixed Income & Derivatives products

Work closely with ACFI to devise account schemas to effect entries for the products handled. Ensure information of new account schemas are effectively disseminated to subordinates.

Monthly

Ensure all treasury sub systems (including spreadsheets) are reconciled to General Ledger.
Data gathering for core KPIs assigned
Perform permanent supervision on sensitive accounts assigned to OPER/FIC by ACFI.

Implementation of regional projects

Others

Develop and monitor implementation of procedural strategies including identifying changes to improve processes
Liaise with various departments to improve procedures and systems
Keep abreast of current market practices and developments
Accounting treatment on structured products or any new capital market product.
Liaise with ITEC in relation to system problems/enhancements/implement
Liaise with traders re current/new products, problem areas with on-going contact with Front–Offices
Liaise with MO for monthly reconciliation of accounting results

Any other duties which may be required by management
