Capacity Planner
A dynamic individual is required to enhance our capacity planning capability within our Global Markets business. The key challenge will be to deliver the requirements below in an environment with a high rate of growth
Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Senior Manager - Datacentre Capacity and Performance Management as a member of the capacity and Performance Management team.
- Ensure an appropriate level of Capacity for the Business, IT Services and the supporting infrastructure through a constant cycle of optimization, prediction, and influence.
- Produce capacity plans in line with the Organisation's business planning cycles, ensuring that capacity is available as required.
- Minimise the adverse Capacity affects on the IT Infrastructure and the Business by proactive monitoring, review and planning and taking suitable actions in conjunction with the Technology stakeholders both within the Organisation.
- Value - add to various technology streams by timely and proper engagement and recommending appropriate solutions. E.g. recommends tuning of systems, supports performance testing.
- Capacity & performance related risks are identified, communicated, escalated and acted upon.
- Demonstrate year on year decrease in the number of technology audits findings and capacity and performance incidents related to production.
- Ensure appropriate level of instrumentation and thresholds set to facilitate monitoring.
- Undertake continuous improvement.
- Identify and recommend new technology that will add value to the organization in terms of performance and cost.
- Develop influential and trustworthy working relationships with other Technology and Business Peers to communicate and achieve capacity and performance Objectives. This should be aimed at reduced decision-making and implementation times.
- Sound Knowledge of the Application Software Architectures for Global Markets systems, eCommerce processing, Decision Support and Reporting.
- Minimum of 10 years practical experience in Software development life-cycles, Testing, Implementation, Systems administration and Support.
- Solid Experience in capacity and performance monitoring and planning.
- Significant working knowledge of
- Operating Systems : Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows
- Databases : Oracle, Sybase
- Application & Middleware : Websphere and MQ Suite
- Experience with BMC Performance Manager (PATROL), and Assurance Manager.
- Significant Analytical experience in analyzing the data from software monitoring tools in order to support application development or performance modeling and analysis and tuning.
- Significant practical experience in analyzing testing results to assess required software and infrastructure tuning.
- Experience in data center facility capacity planning would be considered an advantage.
- Good Technical leadership and sound Problem analysis and resolution abilities.
- Excellent Communication and co-ordination skills within the Technology community.
